Receiver 2 Announced For 2020

Wolfire Games (creator of Overgrowth and the original Humble Bundle) has announced Receiver 2, the sequel to their cult classic first-person shooter, Receiver. The game is scheduled to release in early 2020 on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux.

About Receiver II

THIS IS NO ARCADE SHOOTER, THIS IS 100% GUN MECHANIC REALISM
Receiver 2 simulates every internal part of each firearm based on manufacturer schematics and gunsmithing resources. Learn exactly how each sidearm works, including how to load and unload them, clear malfunctions, and operate their safety features.

NOT YOUR ORDINARY FPS
You won’t find any loot crates or bullet sponges here. Every enemy can be destroyed by a single well-placed shot, using ballistic simulation based on data from shooting incident reconstruction textbooks. Practice the Receiver virtues of resilience, focus, and courage to resist the Threat.

Receiver 2 will launch with eight different sidearms, including the Beretta 92FS, Colt Single-Action Army, and the iconic Desert Eagle. While the original Receiver simulated the major moving parts of each gun, the new game simulates every single internal mechanism down to each spring and screw.

“That seemed like the most direct way to make sure they function realistically. Instead of creating a complicated flow chart, we just apply the player controls to the simulated sidearm and see what happens. That includes common malfunctions that can generally be cleared with the immediate action drill, though the double-feed is a bit more complicated.”
