Steam Summer Sale 2017

by Thelget

Just when you thought you’d finally saved enough money for that summer vacation, the Steam Summer Sale 2017 comes along to drain your wallet.  Typically the biggest Steam sale of the year, PC gamers pounce on the site to grab up often heavily discounted titles.  Last year’s Steam Summer Sale dates were leaked from a Pay Pal UK Tweet, however Reddit has the lowdown for 2017.

Historically the Summer Sale takes place in June and ends shortly after the July 4th holiday and this appears to be the case again.  According to this Reddit thread, the Steam Summer Sale 2017 will run from June 22nd to July 5th.  The dates are based on a screenshot someone grabbed from a closed Steamworks developer group, which Valve posted alerting devs of the dates so developers can prep their deals ahead of the sale.

Bring Back My Flash Deals!

Steam Flash Deals - Gone

I’m still butthurt that Steam did away with Flash Deals during their big sales as I feel those offered some extreme price cuts.  Since removing those Flash Deals the sales have been “Meh”, so much so I think I only purchased one game during the Holiday Sale.  Speculation suggests they did away with the Flash Deals after too many people complained about missing the short window price slashing.  Folks, that’s what made it exciting and kept us coming back every 12 hours to snag the next big deal!

In any event I will still be hitting the sale on June 22nd to see if anything on my Wishlist has hit that magical 80% price drop.  I should probably let my kids know our summer vacation has been cancelled too.
